About this job

This position supports the global Hyperion Planning application. Will also support all applicable Essbase and HFM touchpoints/integration. Will interface and work directly with all business groups that utilize the applications to gather ongoing requirements for enhancements/changes as well as support monthly/quarterly/annual budgeting/forecasting processes. This position will work with the functional users in Memphis, Glasgow, McLean, HRCC, HGV and the IT teams to determine the approach and viability of requested/necessary process changes. The individual will for documenting requirements, fit-gap analysis, creation of testing scenarios. Will also support a global on-going training program to ensure all functional users understand the application capabilities delivered and how they are expected to perform their roles

What will I be doing?

Planning Activities

  • Creates and maintains Excel VBA, VBA and API script to interact with various applications.
  • Development of various reports as needed by Corporate Finance Staff.
  • Maintain the corporate G & A budgeting process as needed (this includes Excel VBA code).
  • Maintain data integrity of information being collected and uploaded into Hyperion/Essbase applications.
  • Researches and helps to identify business opportunities and reports findings and conclusions to upper management.

Controlling Activities

  • Daily maintenance to various reporting systems, not limited to general & administrative reporting and other corporate systems.
  • Prepare monthly data extracts from corporate consolidation application to feed other systems.
  • Ensures established performance standards for department are met.
  • Assesses actual performance against standards to determine whether the team is on target to reach goals and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Enforces policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the department and Company.
  • Operates within established budgetary parameters.

Organizing Activities

  • Maintains hotel budget process into Hyperion.
  • Establishes priorities and delegates work to team members accordingly, while ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Works with key stakeholders and departments, structuring the resources and activities of the department/project so objectives are accomplished.

  • BS/BA Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of hands on Hyperion Planning experience.
  • 1 to 3 years financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze financial data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that build trust and instill confidence in order to motivate and influence others.
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for team to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with core strategic goals.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage details through to completion and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Proficient with Excel VBA, VBA, API and ASP Page Design.
  • Knowledge of business mathematics, including ability to calculate percentage changes and averages/weighted averages; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including ability to understand/manipulate basic spreadsheets.
  • Knowledgeable of General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems, preferably PeopleSoft.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:


*Master's Degree


*Oracle Hyperion Certification


* Knowledgeable of PeopleSoft ERP/General Ledger application.


* Knowledgeable of other Hyperion applications (HFM, Essbase, MFM, FDM, etc.)
