Job title: Assistant Meat Market Sales Manager

Department: Meat Department

Report to: Meat Market Sales Manager

Ability to lead and direct others. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job. Good interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment. Must meet minimum age requirements to comply with company policy. Effective communication and customer service skills.

Essential Job Functions:

1.Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.

2.Direct work flow of meat cutters and meat clerks.

3.Ensure product produced meets company standards.

4.Oversee the cutting room, cooler organization, and rotation of all products.

5.Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.

6.Order and maintain inventory control in order to maximize sales and limit shrink issues.

7.Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow up required for efficient performance of the department.

8.Maintain effectiveness of department's staffing, scheduling, and financial results.

9.Perform meat cutter functions.

10.Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment as outlined by company practices.

11.Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of meat associates.

12.Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Observe and follow all company policies and established standard practices.

2.In the absence of the department manager, manage the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices.

3.Maintain a neat, well groomed personal appearance at all times and comply with company's personal appearance policy.

4.Actively recognize associates who deliver great service and coach associates to expectations when necessary.

5.Understand and use company tools such as; financial reports, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems.

6.Maintain solid communication in the department, with the store manager, and throughout the organization.

7.Maintain merchandising techniques and layouts consistent with company standards.

8.Maintain department compliance with pricing and coding policy.

9.Work within our company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.

10.Support company safety standards. Communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed. Keep work area free from debris and safety hazards.

11.Develop product knowledge in all areas of meat department, including product preparation.

12.Have total understanding of department's Standard Practice manual.

13.Ensure the proper training of all meat associates.

14.Ensure and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards.

15.Maintain the quality of department's appearance and presentation.

16.Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect. Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer feedback when necessary.

17.Perform all special projects and duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

1.Lift cases or packages of meat products weighing 1-40 lb. frequently and 100 lb. on occasion.

2.Meet established volume activity standards.

3.Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F the majority of the time.

4.Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced and weighed.

5.Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials and meat products.

6.Use hands continuously to feel objects, and use tools and equipment to cut and prepare meat products.

7.Frequent bending.
