Senior Software Engineer - Secret Clearance Job

Senior Software Engineer needed for a contract to hire opportunity with Yoh's client located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Possession of or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required as a condition for employment.

Must be currently eligible to work in the US for any employer.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Plans, develops, tests, and documents US Navy simulation and control systems software.
- Generates new code and corrects, converts, and/or modifies existing code to meet specifications.
- Prepares detailed specifications from which code will be written.
- Writes and updates technical documentation such as users' manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
- Performs a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.
- Designs and Evaluates software architecture.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of related software development experience.
- Experience with version control software, such as SourceSafe, Subversion, Git, etc.
- Successful applicants must be a US Citizen and either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
- Candidate must have the ability to travel 20-30%.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong object oriented programming skills (Java, C/ C++ and/or C#).
- Desire, interest and proven capabilities to operate in a fast-paced team environment with distributed areas of expertise.
- A proven ability to initiate, investigate and solve technical issues with minimized technical oversight.
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills towards the identification and resolution of software issues.
- A key interest and proven pursuit of a strong desire to increase scope and depth of technical expertise.

Bonus Points! Otherwise Known As Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience designing software architectures. Should have strong knowledge of design patterns.
- Database - experience programming with SQL databases. Administration experience a plus.
- Operating systems - Windows 7, RedHat or other Linux Shell administration and programming
- Experience working in a CMMI environment a plus.
- Experience designing, developing, deploying and maintaining software based simulations a plus.
- Successful candidate will be able to see a project through from beginning to end of the software lifecycle.
