Security Officer Position Summary: Provides security for patients, employees and visitors; protects hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned.
Security Officer Minimum Education/Credentials/License/Degree Required:
High School diploma or equivalent;
Security certification/experience preferred, but not required.
Must become PPCT-DT, RIPP Restraint and Taser Certified within six months.
Security Officer Minimum Experience Required:
Current valid Colorado driver's license
Security Officer Essential Job Functions:
Provide security for those on the premises by patrolling and surveillance techniques familiar to law enforcement and security officers in order to ensure a safe environment
Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance as well as maintaining confidentiality of patient/resident staff information (HIPPA)
Report all hazardous conditions/equipment, as well as safety and/or fire hazards or security violations to the Security Supervisor and/or Plant Operations Manager
Operates the Security Cameras/ Employee Identification System /Paging system
Prevent theft and other criminal activity throughout the facility thereby contributing to cost effective and quality control principals, by assuring that personnel follow established security and safety regulations. In addition, responsible for securing patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintains log of items received
Settle disturbances and intervene when necessary to ensure the peaceful atmosphere of the facility. Responds to Detox Center, and provides restraints of violent patients, if available during a panic alarm activation and effect the removal and/or arrest when necessary
Assist in the service of subpoenas for other agencies in order to maintain a cooperative liaison with law enforcement agencies
Document and retain information pertaining to activities, occurrences and investigations through the facility by the use of individual officers log sheets in order to disseminate information and to coordinate security efforts with other departments in the system.
Escorts personnel to and from parking lots as requested
Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities
Controls parking and traffic flow around Helipad; enforces parking regulations
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops, attends meetings and trainings as required, and maintains their relevant training documentation and medical records
Performs Code Pink Drills and assists in fire and disaster responses/drill, as well as responsible for Taser RIPP Restraint training, documentation and record keeping
Participates in New Hire Orientation by educating new employees about security of the facility
Regularly assist Plant Operations staff in the maintenance/resets of the air handles/ boilers after power outages/weather related problems, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and routine maintenance of the facility (replace water bottles, change light bulbs, etc) as requested
Performs other duties as assigned.
