Certified Nurse’s Assistant – Possibilities Program

Location: Colorado Springs (Week Days Only)

OBJECTIVE:

To support programs by assisting with personal care needs, activities, activities of daily living, food service and all other day-to-day, hands on services deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the rehabilitation programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications: Current Certified Nursing Assistant License, High school graduate (GED). Willing to obtain Medication Administration Qualification, CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain training. Previous experience with the Developmental Disabilities population is preferred.

It is preferred that the incumbent have the ability to interact and work cooperatively and effectively with consumers, coworkers, supervisors, family members, and community referral sources. The incumbent must be able to respond to special requests on short notice, function as an active and contributing team member and complete assigned tasks completely, accurately and in a timely manner. The incumbent must be able to write clear, concise and accurate reports and maintain records as required. The incumbent must also communicate effectively, conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation. A valid Colorado driver’s license without a history of violations is required along with successful completion of pre-employment drug screen. Dress code will be discussed during interview and o vertime may be required with occasional shift changes.

As a caregiver role, a candidate for the C.N.A. position may be disqualified if they have a criminal record for illegal drug use or sale, financial fraud, identity theft, physical abuse, crimes involving violence and/or theft. We do consider the specifics of the offense, including how long ago the offense took place.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Client Care

The CNA will assist in preparation necessary for arrival and departure of clients on a daily basis, when necessary. The incumbent will be responsible to assist all clientele with their personal needs to include toileting, dressing, feeding, transferring, lifting and showering as needed. The incumbent will keep appropriate records, assist with activities, prepare and feed meals and snacks, communicate with medical, professionals and caregivers in order to implement necessary changes, when necessary. The incumbent will work with the team to assess appropriate treatments, confirm courses of action for treatments and play a vital role in handling emergencies. The CNA will be responsible to maintain certification for medication administration and will ensure accurate dispensary of medications is carried forth, as ordered by the client’s physician.

Client/Program Tracking and Reporting

The CNA will be responsible for accurate documentation to include, but not limited to: Medication Administration Record Sheet, Medical Notations, Daily Progress Notes, Delegation paperwork, and fluid intake documentation (when necessary). The incumbent will also ensure accurate implementation of protocols is set forth by all staff and corresponding documentation is completed, according to requirements. The CNA will also communicate each client’s program goal progress to the appropriate staff on a daily basis and ensure that all paperwork is handed in according to designated due dates.

Relationship Management

The CNA will communicate in a timely manner and keep the Program Coordinator, as well as the Health Services Coordinator, informed of progress, considerations, and pertinent information. The incumbent will deal effectively and calmly with non-routine situations following accepted guidelines and perform other duties as required by the Program Coordinator, participating in staff meetings and trainings as required. The incumbent will also maintain good working knowledge of Goodwill Industries policies and procedures, performing additional related duties as requested by the Program Coordinator.

Community Participation Team Support

As an active member of the rehabilitation team, the CNA will ensure complete coverage for morning client check in, breaks and lunches is obtained through a team approach. The incumbent will help clients with activities, community outings or reverse integration activities, when needed. The CNA will assist each client to reach their fullest level of independence by building skills with clients through implementation of client specific program plans. The CNA will participate in all assigned meetings, trainings or seminars as set forth by the supervisor.

Pay $10.00hr - No Weekends and No Evenings
