Job Summary :
3M Cogent is seeking a talented and motivated software QA engineer for ensuring the quality of our industry-leading biometric and document issuance system solutions. The person hired for the position of QA engineer will be responsible for testing a wide range of applications and products throughout the entire lifecycle of projects. 3M Cogent offers many career opportunities and long-term growth to successful QA engineers who have the passion and drive for success.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Applying thorough software testing practices and procedures to ensure software quality
- Executing many forms of testing based on project requirements
- Creating and maintaining software testing requirements, test cases, and test plans
- Analyzing test results and providing test reports and summaries
- Tracking and reporting of software defects using appropriate tools
- Communicating with software engineers and customers to understand system requirements from assigned biometric and/or document issuance projects
- Designing and developing automated testing suites
- Duplication and troubleshooting of reported software defects
- Performing acceptance testing of project environments
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
- Minimum two (2) years experience with software testing and/or development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3-5 years of related experience with software testing and/or development
- Experience with scripting and/or automated testing development
- Experience in programming with one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Java, C#
- Familiarity with various operating systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Windows (all current versions), Linux (SLES, RHEL, or derivatives) and UNIX variants
- Experience with SQL and with one or more of the following database platforms: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fast learner in a large variety of technical backgrounds
- Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
- Must be a team player and enjoy working in a fast pace environment
- Results oriented with strong process and execution skills
Location: Pasadena, CA
Travel: May include up to 10% (domestic/international)
