Mon - Fri; 7:30 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m.

Job Summary:

The Training Specialist actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The Training Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, facilitating and evaluating nursing education in their designated area at the system level.

The Training Specialist uses the novice to expert model and includes the roles of educator, consultant, leader and researcher.

The Training Specialist models behaviors that reflect continued personal and professional growth.

The Training Specialist is cognizant of trends in practice and delivery of care and facilitates the process for learners to assume responsibility for maintaining competence in practice.

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Power Point and Excel

Creativity, self-direction and initiative developing educational programs

Leadership skills

Effective communicator, strong interpersonal skills

Self directed, creative, shows initiative to develop educational programs

Knowledge of organizational structure, policies, regulations and philosophy

American Heart Association Instructor (BLS or ACLS or PALS or NRP)

BLS certification

Advanced Life Support (per specialty) certification

Master of Science degree in Nursing or Master's degree in related field ( Preferred )

3-5 years experience in education ( Preferred )

1-3 years in lead or management role ( Preferred )

License, Certification or Registration Required:

Current registration with the Florida State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinates and facilitates all aspects of training programs.

Individualizes, plans, implements and evaluates training programs in response to health care trends, staff learning needs, and organizational goals.

Supervises and performs performance evaluations on training program participants.

Evaluates each training program participants on meeting performance objectives, clinical outcomes, and professional behavior.

Utilizes principles of adult learning to provide training consistent with Novice to Expert and differing levels of patient care across the continuum.

Utilizes the process of systematic inquiry and continuous evaluation to develop educational activities.

Contributes educational expertise to facilitate and enhance achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals.

Participates in education-focused systematic inquiry on topics such as health care outcomes, issues, concepts, theories and the learning process.

Utilizes knowledge of leadership principles and management skills.

Communicates effectively.

Maintains knowledge of national, local and facility trends in nursing practice.

Promotes continuous improvement to training programs.

Collaborates to implement change.

Integrates published research and current literature to develop and implement learning activities Contributes to the research process and participates in hospital based research.

Provides learning opportunities that enable nurses to utilize research findings in practice.
