Summary: Develops market segments and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts. Maximizes revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage, and ancillary products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises Sales Administrative Assistant.
  • Solicits, responds to and negotiates with potential customers requiring group accommodations, meeting space and/or onsite catering; recommends additional services.
  • Contacts partners and customers via telephone, email, mailings, faxes and meetings to communicate opportunities with the company.
  • Negotiates contracts with customers; negotiates commission agreements with third-party agencies.
  • Prepares proposals and contracts to advise prospective customers of space considerations, rates and availability of guest rooms, meeting space and banquet facilities; develops and quotes prices.
  • Resolves issues related to service and operations.
  • Performs outside sales activities to discuss business opportunities and entertain customers in local and assigned markets; participates in tradeshows and industry and customer events.
  • Attends weekly sales departmental meetings and other scheduled meetings to support business operations (e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group pick up).
  • Conducts site tours with potential customers; visits guest rooms, meeting spaces and banquet facilities, as well as other property facilities.
  • Collaborates with facilities, reservation and catering departments to ensure events exceed customers' expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education and/or Experience: Four years of college-level courses with an emphasis on business and two years of experience in conference center or hotel sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in hotel management, business administration, marketing or communications preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, Outlook; Delphi (or in-house sales system); Market Vision; Internet/Intranet. Ability to travel to support sales and business needs.
