RICHMOND COMMUNITY HOSPITALPOSITION SUMMARY A Nurse Educator is a professional nurse with expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing practice that is expected to demonstrate the highest level of expert practice. The Nurse Educator analyzes practice in the care center in a continuous improvement framework, initiating change, and evaluating the impact. Establishes and maintains standards of practice at the patient, unit, and care center level. Coordinates, facilitates, provides, and evaluates staff education. Provides innovative and collaborative leadership for the care center by role modeling and mentoring. Facilitates the integration of ethical, legal concepts into the practice of self and others. Actualizes quality patient outcomes within the care center through utilization of advanced knowledge, preparation, skills, and experience. Collaborates as a member of the care center team to achieve the highest level of patient care. The educator is a member of the leadership team and functions as an advisor to the group.JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school.2. Current licensure as RN in State of Virginia.3. Bachelor's in nursing preferred. Master's degree/licensure as advanced practitioner in area of specialty or 5- 7 years of current clinical experience in the area of specialty.4. Certification in clinical specialty preferred.5. Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.6. Maintains curent CPR certification.7. Work requires level of knowledge of nursing techniques, methods, and nursing management, acquired through five to seven years of progressively more responsible, related experience.8. Previous work experience communicating complex theoretical and technical concepts to all levels of department personnel; developing and presenting formal educational programs; and collaborating effectively with other health team members.
