JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provides administrative support to the human resources function in the areas of HRIS, compensation, benefits, staffing/employment, employee relations, and/or organizational development and training.
  • Maintains employee hardcopy or softcopy files.
  • Inputs employee personal data into human resources information/computer system (HRIS) database.
  • Processes various forms related to documenting human resources activities such as new-hire, change-of-status, performance evaluations, benefits, terminations, etc. Conducts new-hire orientations.
  • May prepare special reports, such as insurance, COBRA, OSHA, affirmative action and headcount using HRIS. Provides information to employees on matters pertaining to their personal employee information.
  • At higher job levels, may perform duties otherwise performed by entry-level human resources generalist, such as conducting candidate interviews and performing data gathering and analysis as it relates to compensation and/or benefits activities.
  • May write job descriptions.
  • May facilitate employee training and be involved in needs assessments and recommendations.
  • May conduct employee exit interviews and tally general statistics including headcount tracking. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee).

SCOPE: Under limited supervision, provides a variety of clerical support projects for the human resources department.

  1. Is involved with processing employee status change forms and maintaining personnel files in accordance with established company procedures.
  2. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  3. Provides general human resource information to employees based on established policies and procedures. Responsible for the input of data into HRIS.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are semi- routine in nature in nature where judgment is resolving problems and making routine recommendations.

  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. Errors may be detected and corrected but may cause moderate loss of time or customer/users dissatisfaction.

LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.

FREEDOM TO ACT: General supervision and instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Having some knowledge and experience, able to handle usual occurring job events. Choice of action requires more than common sense in that some training and experience is needed before knowing what to do under special circumstances.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school education or equivalent and 4+ years of business-related experience of an increasingly responsible nature.
