As a Sr. Systems Engineer – Tooling and Automation, you will use a consultative approach and combine concepts from Agile and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) to grow platform use and empower development teams for future success. You will provide infrastructure, build-and-release, and CI/CD expertise to software development teams across the company, work with program teams to understand their product requirements, and provide guidance on developer platform implementation. Duties Responsible for implementation, maintenance, planning and capacity management of the production, development, and QAenvironments Build and maintain websites in a dynamic Microsoft Serverenvironment 1. Update, maintain and scale a Chef and Desired Sate Configuration infrastructure to manage all aspects of the production, development, and QA environments 2. 3. Select and conduct Proof of Concept exercises on tools needed to support system processes or design and build custom sites and tools to support the infrastructure if none are available 4. 5. Work together with Support, Development and QA engineers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues 6. 7. Establish operational best practices and standard operating procedures for deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management 8. 9. Production deployment planning, testing and verification 10. 11. Assess utilization trends and make appropriate design and implementation recommendations to scale the architecture 12. Work with engineering team on builds and releases 13. 14. Automate/script build and deployment processes in an Agile CI environment 15. 16. Troubleshoot issues with builds and deployment and offer solutions 17. 18. Coordinate change requests, tickets, reviews, and pre/post deployment support 19. 20. Drive increased efficiency across teams, eliminating duplication and leveraging product and technology reuse 21. 22. Support process improvements that guide the development, sustainment, and support of activities 23. 24. Work cross-functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables 25. 26. Drive world-class quality in the development and support of software products 27. 28. Communicate effectively within your immediate team, across leadership teams, and with business partners, ensuring that the team receives consistent messages and has a clear understanding of the business direction, strategy, and results 29. 30. Engage subject matter experts in the successful transfer of complex domain knowledge 31. Available for 24x7 on-call support 32. Other duties as assigned Position Requirements 0. Experience supporting software build systems using automated build tools and scripting 1. Extensive experience scripting with PowerShell and/or Bash to solve problems because you didn't want to deal with them any longer 2. More than 2 years working directly with and/or supporting a software development team 3. Prior experience in consulting 4. Experience supporting software build systems using automated build tools 5. Minimum 5+ years' experience with Windows servers 6. Minimum 2+ years' with Linux 7. Minimum 2+ years' experience in system programming and/or scripting. (PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, etc.) 8. Virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V, Azure, EC2) 9. Configuration management tools (Puppet,Chef,Ansible, Salt) 10. Experience with Git or Subversion, orsimilar 11. Ability to design and maintain deployment processes in large environments 12. Writing and maintaining software build systems and supporting tools (TeamCity, Jenkins, Bamboo) 13. Building custom infrastructure support tools to automate production processes 14. Writing code to glue together various applications that were never meant to speak to each other to produce reliable automated solutions 15. Web Servers – IIS, Apache, Tomcat 16. Database Software – SQL 17. Using Virtualization APIs – Azure, Amazon, or VMWare preferred. 18. Network Infrastructure – DNS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, NFS, DHCP, SSH 19. Security – Experience with 3 Tier Architectures, PCI Compliance, Intrusion detection and security scanning. 20. Agile Development methodologies(Scrum or Kanban) 21. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in large environments 22. Strong planning delivery management 23.
