The Human Resources Partner provides significant professional Human Resource and Strategic Business partner support and guidance to ABSMC administrators, directors, managers and staff to ensure a positive work environment, business success, quality patient outcomes, and a high level of patient and physician satisfaction to support the mission of the organization.

This position participates as a member of the Alta Bates Summit HR Department in the day-to-day operations and collaborates with the East Bay Region Shared Services teams (Compensation, HRIS, Recruiting, Benefits, Service Center) to facilitate the delivery of HR services to Alta Bates Summit administrators, directors, managers and staff.

This position provides direct operational support regarding all aspects of Human Resources services including advice and counsel to managers and directors regarding performance management, employment practices and personnel policies, compliance with applicable local, State and Federal laws, and interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements. This role is also responsible for all aspects of employee complaint and grievance investigation and resolution for represented and non-represented employees.

This position is expected to have general knowledge of all HR functional areas including employee relations, labor relations, performance management, employee benefit plans, general employee communications, wage and salary programs, disability plans and programs, training and development, employee recognition programs and recruitment in order to collaborate effectively with the Regional Shared Services teams.

* Education:

* To competently perform the duties of this position, a background including a bachelor's level education in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

* Professional in Human Resources Management certification preferred

* Experience:

* Seasoned human resources experience required.

* Demonstrated success in interpretation and application of Human Resource practices and procedures is required.

* Ability to successfully influence key stakeholders to meet the organizations goals and objectives.

* Demonstrated competence in effective problem-solving and resolution of complaints

* Knowledge:

* Demonstrated knowledge and application of Federal, State and local regulations and laws, including, but not limited to; Wage & Hour laws, California wage orders, FSLA, EEOC, ADA, worker's compensation, state disability, ERISA, COBRA, NLRA, Title VII, FMLA, JCAHO, State Disability Insurance, and the Rehabilitation Act.

* Demonstrated competence based on knowledge of labor relations including interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements and resolution of grievances and arbitrations

* Demonstrated competence in performance management including coaching and developing high performers, coaching and crucial conversation techniques for corrective action

* Knowledge of functional HR areas including recruitment practices, benefits plan administration, and basic understanding of compensation practices.

* Demonstrated competence in employee relations including employee recognition programs, staff development, problem resolution and team building

* Special Skills/Equipment:

* Must be self directed and have the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and complete assignments within established time frames.

* Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution skills, negotiations and analytical skills.

* The ability to develop written reports and proposals.

* Excellent communication skills (written/verbal/presentation) with all levels of staff.

* Effective utilization of positive interpersonal skills, including negotiation to influence positive business outcomes.

* Effective leadership skills required.

* Demonstrated ability to seek information on own initiative, maintain a high level of customer service satisfaction and set goals which are challenging yet realistic.

* Demonstrates ability to use standard PC equipment and word processing and spreadsheet software required.

* Ability to implement and maintain effective employee relations programs.
