SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides coding support to clients in the areas of clinic, hospital, outpatient, hospital inpatient and DRG coding. Creates reports based on research and findings during coding reviews. Provides consulting services for physicians and healthcare facilities.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides coding support on an as needed basis for clients
- This position is a high volume position which requires an extremely high accuracy ratio and a significant amount of urgency, as all functions of this position affect reimbursement
- The incumbent must stay current on all changes and revisions regarding CPT, HCPCs, ICD-9, DRGs, APCs, and revenue codes
 Researches and answers coding questions for internal and external clients
- Provides necessary references to clients in regards to their coding questions
- New client billing research
- Medical Billing responsibilities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Associates Degree in an accredited Health Information Technology program.

-Previous coding experience in a facility.

-Recommended Registered Health Information Technician certificaiton.

-Preferable designations: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H).
