About this job

Responsible for the on-site supervision of patient and/or staff foodservice and cafeteria, coffee cart and vending services contracts under the direction of a manager.

Essential Functions:

* Supervises Food Service personnel to include performance evaluation and competencies and scheduling oversight

* Provide input, as well as, support department's budget process and financial goals. Direct and conduct quality assurance audits.

* Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and The Joint Commission requirements.

* Supervise personnel engaged in the daily preparation and service of patient and/or staff meals.

* Conduct inspections/audits of food service contracts to ensure high quality food and service performance standards are met.

* Supervises food and room service operations. Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner and according to established standards.

* Participates in menu and recipe development including food and product evaluation as requested.

* Supervises sanitation and HACCP on a day to day basis.

* Participates in policy and procedure development, and implementation for the food programs.

* Conducts quality assurance and performance improvement program of food program to ensure local, state and federal regulation compliance

* Evaluates and verifies food employee performance and competency.

* Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.

* Provides input and oversight of food service budgets.

* Supervises procurement of food and items necessary for day to day operations

* Supervises disaster plan in accordance to the Disaster/Emergency Plan

* Conducts food contract audits.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

* Minimum two (2) years of food service experience or qualifying experience in a healthcare setting, supervisory/management position.

Education

* High School Diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

* Completed a dietetic supervisor's training program meeting the requirements of Essentials of an Acceptable Program of Dietetic Assistant Education, revised June, 1974, by the American Dietetic Association;

* Or has CDM credential from the Dietary Manager's Association;

* Or RD credential from Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) by the American Dietetic Association.

Additional Requirements:

* Ability to direct and supervise others.

* Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and customer service skills required.

* Food Service Supervisors hired before December 15, 2009, who do not meet the requirements above, must have a minimum of five years experience in food service management and approved through the FLEX program with the California Department of Public Health.

* Food Service Supervisors hired prior to July 1, 1977 an associate's degree in food/nutrition or related degree.

* Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Minimum two (2) years of food service experience in the health care field preferred.

* Bachelor's degree in food/nutrition or related degree.
