About this job

The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine is currently accepting applications for an Interventional MRI Fellowship position beginning July 2015 and July 2016. The Emory Interventional MRI Program was founded in 2011 with a vision to offer minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic options to patients who may not be suitable candidates for conventional interventional radiological procedures. The Emory Interventional MRI Program is one of a few such programs worldwide and is recognized as one of busiest and most comprehensive clinical interventional MRI services. Depending on the type of intervention, MRI-guided interventions at Emory University are performed in one of three MRI suites equipped with specialized MRI-compatible interventional devices and instruments.

The Emory Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is committed to further advancing this novel technology and to offering a 12-month non-ACGME accredited Interventional MRI fellowship that will include dedicated clinical training in diagnostic and interventional MRI. The trainee will engage in various activities related to MRI-guided interventions including evaluating patients' candidacy for procedures, learning about interventional suite setup, receiving safety training, participating in the performance of procedures under MRI guidance in various body systems, and evaluating patients before and after procedures in a dedicated "Interventional MRI Clinic" setting. Scholarly activities are encouraged and expected during the course of this fellowship.
