Responsibilities

- Review the design and/or revision of size reduction machines and ancillary equipment.
- Perform analysis of engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, tolerances and arrangement of parts.
- Prepare Engineering specifications, solve technical problems and review special applications.
- Evaluate and implement design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
- Rapidly develop manufacturing designs of highly complex machines using solid engineering skills with attention to details and with a good working knowledge of a diverse spectrum of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Provide Manufacturing/Production with prints of completed drawings and supports production in the machining and assembly areas.
- Maintain technical coordination with the Engineering staff and other departments, including, but not limited to, Production, Purchasing, Sales and Customer Service.
- Prepare a wide variety of detail and assembly drawings as required for manufacturing.
- Utilize information obtained from specifications, layout drawings, and instructions furnished by Supervisor to generate appropriate designs.
- Perform a variety of calculations to substantiate designs and show necessary design details, section views, and dimensions on production drawings.
- Enter Item Master Specifications, Routings and Bills of Materials into the Corporate Business System to compliment production drawings.

Qualifications

- BS in Mechanical Engineering from accredited College or University
- 5 years of mechanical design experience with emphasis on heavy-duty size reduction equipment such as shredders, granulators and/or hammer mills.
- Must possess excellent design problem-solving, communication skills, with a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Word & Excel, AutoCAD and Solidworks. Solidworks proficiency MUST include part/assembly creation and modification, bill of material creation/management, mating of parts/assemblies, configuration management (including properties, scenarios, etc.), detail drawing creation, and use of templates.
- Ability to perform FEA and experience in industrial machine electrical systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of welding, machining, and machine tool processes and programming is a plus
