Middle School Teacher-150003HL Job Training Education Services Primary Location United States-MD-MDBaltimore Organization Cambridge Description New Visions Academy of Baltimore is a private, separate day school for male students ages 11-21 in grades 6-12. As a full-day special education program, New Visions provides a structured learning environment, vocational training and other support services for male students who have been unable to succeed in the public school system. We combine traditional scholastic courses with hands-on training and additional support, guidance and therapy to assist boys and young men who have emotional or behavioral challenges.

The Middle School Teacher provides on-site alternative/additional educational services to adolescent program participants. This is done in a cognitive retraining & educational setting in accordance with their rehabilitation program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides educational assistance to program participants at their academic placement.
• Coordinates carry-over strategies developed by the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team.
• Attends weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team.
• Completes all necessary documentation such as service summaries, reports, billing slips, etc.
• Supervises and assists in development and implementation of curriculum.
• Develops methods of evaluating student progress.
• Meets with parents and students to provide guidance and seek solutions to problems.
• Implements policy and procedure of the classroom environment.
• Attends all mandatory CCS training.
• Establishes and maintains a supportive working relationship within both the agency, school and in the broader community service network.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education
• Two years experience in classroom or tutorial settings.
• Special Education certification preferred
• Experience with the special education population preferred.
