3M is seeking a Manufacturing Technology Intern for the Film Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations Division located in Decatur, AL. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

An intern (typical 10-12 week, full-time schedule assignment) position is a temporary assignment with 3M's Corporate Student Programs. Corporate Student Programs is designed to provide 3M with the opportunity to identify qualified candidates for regular employment, and to provide students with the opportunity to integrate their academic knowledge with work experience. As a Student Programs participant located in Decatur, AL you will develop skills, and gain work experience in your field of study.

The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Technology Intern will be supporting new product and process development programs alongside Manufacturing Technology Engineers to impact key division partner's new product introductions.

This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Responsible for initiating and conducting technical tasks associated with Process & Product development within a process development/process technology environment

- Responsible for assisting division partners through product & process development on pilot scale development assets, including setup, procedures, quality tests, data collection, etc.

- Projects have high level of involvement of cross-functional teams and require significant independence and strong leadership skills.

- Establishes and cultivates a network of support (laboratory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments

- Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes which have significant impact potential

- Actively participates in and often leads project planning efforts

- Identifies, recommends, initiates, and implements programs in area of responsibility to improve product cost, service, quality, process safety and health/environmental impact

- Identifies and implements a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical and personal development as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness

- Provide appropriate and timely documentation of work as required by the business unit

- Participates in developing project assignments and demonstrates independence by completing assignments without detailed instructions

Basic Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited University

Preferred Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Polymer or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University.

- Previous internship or co-op experience in process/product engineering or a related field

- Experience with the industrial application of basic statistics, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and/or Regression.

- Experience in Six Sigma methodologies.

- Microsoft Office proficient

- Ability to work on a cross functional team and contribute in a matrix environment

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and international
