Occupational Therapist -- Per Diem

Florida Hospital seeks to hire an Occupational Therapist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.

Department Profile :

Home Care Services provides home health care to clients in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. Florida Hospital Home Care Services is a highly skilled team generally treats geriatric patients utilizing the latest technology. We provide services out of our central offices localized in Orlando and have complete electronic medical record.

Work Hours/Shift :

8 AM -5 PM; As needed

Job Summary :

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and reevaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients in the home setting, utilizing prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional ability tests. In a collaborative effort, establishes a Plan of Care with other disciplines along with the patient and care giver(s) to promote functional independence. Works with outside sources to provide equipment as needed to enhance patient care. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Skills, Education & Experience Required :

Mature clinical and professional judgment.

Skilled to work in all types of home settings and environments.

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to independently prioritize and follow responsibilities through to completion.

Basic Life Support -- CPR

A graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee of Allied Health Education and the accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association: or has two years of appropriate experience as an Occupational Therapist and had achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U. S. Public Health Service, except that such determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking initial qualification as an Occupation Therapist after December 31, 1977.

A minimum of 2 years clinical experience

A clinical specialty as defined and accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association. (Preferred)

Basic computer skills to include Outlook, Microsoft Office and Windows(Preferred)

A Bachelors degree in an Occupational Therapy curriculum approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association

A minimum of one year of home care experience

License, Certification or Registration Required :

Currently licensed as a Occupational Therapist by the state of Florida

Current Florida Class E Driver's License and driving record in accordance with Florida Hospital policy

Current Auto Insurance

Certified Lymphedema Therapist by the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities :

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organizations Performance Excellence Program.

Clinically analyzes and extract patients' strengths and deficits, patient care goals, appropriate treatments, and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy interventions to maximize patients' functional independence.

Maintains proper procedures in the delivery of care that are in alignment with Florida Hospital Home Care Services and professional standards.

When participating in the delivery of care, the therapist possesses knowledge and skills to care for the patients within these age groups: Adolescent -- Adult -- Geriatric

Utilizes knowledge of the agency's documentation processes and good documentation skills to decrease or eliminate validation or documentation errors in accordance with department policy.

Communicates with other disciplines at minimum once every 30 days to discuss patients' progress, caseload, and effectiveness of treatment.

Supports continuous quality improvement by striving to exceed customer expectations, proactively initiating quality improvement ideas, and by participating in agency initiatives that focus on enhancing patient outcomes.

Works on a per visit basis and is held to the per visit productivity standards established by the agency.

Performs other duties as assigned or directed by to ensure smooth operation of the department.
