The Maintenance Manager is a critical position for the Claymont, Delaware plant, and will drive safety and efficiency in the maintenance, reliability, and capital groups. This position has interaction and visibility to the business unit as well as the corporate shared services.

Job Description

* Build and maintain a strong maintenance support team

* Ensure safe and reliable operation of the plant

* Engaged in all plant activities

* Ensure effective maintenance training program and job continuity

* Actively participate on the plant leadership team and engage with all shared resources

* Provide leadership and personal development guidance to the maintenance and technical teams.

* Lead new product commercialization process; working effectively with process technology chemists, production teams, process engineers, and business leaders in developing new and innovative chemical processes.

* Responsible for the overall technical capabilities of the chemical production units including conducting effective technical and economic evaluation of new technologies and actively participating on growth teams.

* Support production teams in process optimization, improvements in area of yields, capacity, defect reduction, and waste minimization.

* Leader for site in using engineering tools to improve speed of new product introduction, process improvement, and innovation engineering designs.

* Utilize and update the Management of Change system to ensure accurate records and comply with all HSE requirements as well as key quality metrics.

* Track and drive corrective action follow-up and actively support PSM, RMP and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and safe operations, and serve as a resource to the Health, Safety & Environmental team.

* Provide vision and leadership by planning and directing the efforts of the Maintenance team members to maintain site equipment, instrumentation, utilities, and facilities in compliance with good engineering practices in a unionized environment.

* Manage Capital Improvement Process including Strategic Planning, Budgeting, Resource allocation, and Project execution.

* Effectively uses Reliability Based Maintenance principles to maximize process on-stream factors, and minimize maintenance costs.

* Ensure effective and consistent administration of all company policies, procedures, program, and Bargaining Unit Contract.

* Require strict adherence to safe work practices by all maintenance department personnel to provide a safe workplace, and promote a behavior based safety culture.

* Develop and maintains Metrics/methods to track costs and processes to support business goals.

* Participate in Union Management Process to resolve grievances and promoting positive labor relations.

* Serve as a Plant Leadership Team member, reporting to the Plant Manager

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.

* Minimum 5 years engineering experience in a chemical plant or industrial/manufacturing or refinery setting with demonstrated increasing responsibility.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with engineering design and installation, yield improvement, new product introduction, administration and compliance (capital project management driving to completion).

* Experience with mechanical integrity and reliability of manufacturing equipment (Inspections and preventative maintenance program)

* Supervisory experience preferred

* Innovative, results oriented team player with a bias for action and customer satisfaction.

* Union environment experience a plus

* Experience working with external auditors and customers.

* Demonstrated ability to successfully lead project and influence others without authority to drive change.

* Effective oral and written communication skills.

* Team Facilitation and leadership skills.

* People development skills and experience.

* Six Sigma certified and/or experience with lean manufacturing processes

* Minimum 2 years' experience managing direct reports.
