About this job

The Deputy Director of Maintenance (DDOM) will work directly for and in support of the Director of Maintenance (DOM) in the development, implementation, coordination, and management for providing life-cycle support for fixed-wing aircraft, total aircraft system maintenance, repair, modification, service, logistical support and management processes for the worldwide fleet of approximately 200 aircraft. The C-12 and RC-12 turboprop and UC-35 jet aircraft are used by the Army, Army Reserves and the Army National Guard.

Position is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the fleet management team including assigned technical representative resources and fielded operations necessary to meet all contract specifications and commitments. Leadership role in developing an operating culture throughout the fleet management organization that will foster an intense work ethic and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines, deliveries and achieving customer satisfaction and confidence to perform. Must first and foremost be a strong execution person -- as a member of the program management team, the Deputy Director of Maintenance shall have the ability to meet constraints of time while focusing on the customer needs through strong leadership, decision making, management, and communication skills.

Key services include:

* Report aircraft status, financials, and overall maintenance activity to the DOM

* Coordinate with support staff to resolve to resolve Personnel, EH&S, Travel, Pay and other non-aircraft related issues.

* Track life-cycle of RFP, ATP, TDY, and other departmental requirements.

* Work closely with Material Manager to schedule and execute site inventories

* Assist DOM with decisions regarding the execution of maintenance activities

* Provide the DOM detailed reports as required to support the program

* Communicate directly with the customer in regards to maintenance activities

* As directed, assume the DOM or FM duties/responsibilities in his/her absence

* Team Business Objectives and Administrative requirements; ARMS, DSR, RFP, ATP, Investigations (RCCA), Continuous Improvement (CI), Employee and Leadership Development.

Responsibilities & Principal Accountabilities

* Provides leadership and management of assigned staff and is accountable for overall program fleet management planning, performance, and execution. Responsibility encompasses program performance from proposal stage, execution, modifications and close out.

* Responsible for all fleet management tools and processes, schedule, cost and quality performance related to fleet operations.

* Authority to make decisions, carry out actions, direct staff in all matters related to the duties and goals of maintenance management within established policy boundaries.

* Support the development and establishment of fleet management plans and milestones, monitors with appropriate metrics program master plans and schedules.

* Develops control systems and reports threats to accurately measure performance, and identifies potential problems in time for appropriate corrective measures to be implemented. Ensures meeting all customer/contract commitments.

* Works across organizational boundaries and coordinates actions of supporting functional support staff to ensure meeting customer needs, customer satisfaction and continued business opportunity growth.

* As directed, monitors the performance of the Fleet Management department staff, including Fleet Managers and Field Service Representatives, and the submissions of required reports and Contract Data Requirements lists (CDRLs).

* Supports fleet management team strategic goals and support objectives. Coordinates rationale for deviations and performance challenges and leads the development of timely get well approaches to ensure performance goals are met. Proactively mitigates risk. Leads team departmental process

improvement initiatives.

* Provides strong, visible leadership and effective management. Must build, develop, and lead a strong field operational team and coordinate their collective efforts to perform and deliver on customer expectations and commitments.

Professional Experience

* wenty (20) years of Aviation experience.

* Twelve (12) years of experience in a management position, with 5 - 8 years in a senior aviation maintenance leadership role focused on direct operations and management of government or commercial programs of similar in size, scope and complexity to large scale aircraft / aviation maintenance programs.

* Five (5) years working similar programs including United States Army, Navy/Marine, Air Force, and/or Army Material Command's sites, or comparable flight training centers performing aircraft / aviation maintenance, modification and related planning and execution).

* Strong customer relationship skills. Familiar with Process Based Management, business process development and continuous improvement methods.

* Risk Mitigation experience, technical program and project planning techniques, managing to schedules and program execution.

Educational Requirements

* Four (4) year business degree (BS) or technical degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience will be considered.

* Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) with I/A Authorization.
