Key Responsibilities The General Manager of Transportation holds the responsibility and operational accountability for providing customer service support for HUDD Transportation from business execution, relationship-building, process improvements, tracking results, and all other activities resulting to high customer satisfaction, efficient and effective service delivery and maximum account satisfaction.

Who we are looking for * Monitors the overall operation and profitability of the Transportation group; as it relates to drayage operations throughout the US

* Works directly with the Safety Department to ensure compliance with Federal and State Safety Regulations

* Assists Senior Director in determining rates, set business strategy, KPIs, and direction to grow transportation services profitability; accountable for client, carrier and Company KPI's in areas of responsibility

* Manage, develop and coach direct reports and provide them with developmental opportunities; along with setting objectives, monitoring results and holding team accountable for meeting goals and deadlines

* Identify and implement changes in areas for potential cost savings and process improvement

* Drive automation within processes (i.e.: invoicing) to achieve long term cost and efficiency savings

* Drive solution-oriented thinking within teams

* Accountable for team's interaction with customers and that customer requirements and metrics are met with satisfaction, quality and error-free

* Supports the personnel requirements of the Transportation Department managers

* Manages the recruiting program for contract drivers

* Sets standards within state, federal and company guidelines for the contracting of Owner Operators

* Monitors claims and accident reporting within the guidelines set forth by the company

* Contracts 3rd party Transportation companies for peak season support

* Monitors issues relating to Contractors to ensure satisfaction and fleet size sufficient to successfully move customer merchandise

* Monitors weekly contractors settlement reports

Identifies areas for potential cost savings

* Performs job related duties as specified by management

Should be able to hear & speak clearly using phone / headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view & enter information on the computer. At times may be required significantly extended shift hours based on business need. May need to travel across US & Canada, international.
