The General Manager of Food Service Operations directs a wide variety of food and nutritional services required in a hospital food service operation and assigns subordinates in such activities. We are seeking candidates with extensive food service knowledge, including culinary experience, catering, retail caf and vending knowledge. Successful candidates will have prior experience as a General Manager overseeing food service in a Joint Commission accredited hospital for a minimum of three (3) years. Daily client contact is required as exhibits an outgoing personality and calm demeanor. Evening, holiday and weekend hours will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Plans, develops, implements, and revises organization policies, operations, and goals. Measures the performance of assigned activities. Establishes and implements an organized system of supervision and general operating procedures. Maintains excellent customer communications and relations that permit continuous improvement in provided services, efficient problem resolution, and acceptance of new services. Negotiates and interprets the terms of various contracts and ensures internal compliance with those terms. Directs and coordinates the promotion of new services to develop new markets and increase market share. Is accountable for the delivery of high quality and cost-effective services as well as ensuring all activities and operations comply with applicable internal and external regulations, laws, and sound business practices. Develops and directs the maintenance of such typically required business reports, administrative matters, or materials as budgets, budget expenditures, operational reports, cost analysis, operational documentation, etc. Tracks financial data, reports, forecasts, and expenditures to achieve optimum efficiency, economy of operations, and maximize profits. Supports an active safety program. Continuously seeks to improve the quality of assigned activities. Directs, trains, supervises, leads, evaluates, and develops assigned personnel to keep them informed and motivated. Plans and implements an effective staff training program. Makes sure the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all assigned employees are defined and understood. Consistently demonstrates professional skills in efficiently carrying out assigned activities, using all forms of communications, handling of change, developing employees, solving typical business problems, and making decisions. May manage subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees. Supervisory Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Other related duties may also be assigned.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Certification through ANFP as a CDM required. Preference will be given to those with at least two (2) years of formal post-secondary training in the hospitality field. Seven (7) years of varied and responsible professional food preparation management experience. Three (3) years' experience managing a hospital food staff of 10 or more. ServSafe Certification must be obtained upon hire. Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner. Must be able to perform each of the essential duties listed above with a professional degree of competency. Proven success at managing multiple tasks, projects and subordinates. Proficiency in planning and organization in a high volume fast paced kitchen. Demonstrated understanding of profit attainment and profit growth. Strong ability to lead, build diverse teams and oversee training. Personal maturity and poise; the ability to remain composed under pressure, to make sound decisions, and to manage diversity. Personal drive and energy --- a liking of challenges and opportunities to innovate . Computer literacy including competence in Microsoft applications and web-based applications. Working knowledge of general accounting principles. Strong communication skills, in both written and verbal forms. Must be proficient in using the following equipment: calculator, fax machine, multi- line phone, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, copy machine and misc. office equipment. Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act. Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English. If not a current CDM, certification will be required within two (2) years of employment. This experience must also demonstrate knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment, supervisory skills, leadership skills, and food preparation quality control procedures.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
