Do you want to work on large scale server systems (internal cloud)?  Do you want to work on products that are known in the world to be the largest of their kind implemented stretching the boundaries of new capabilities?  Help keep Home Depot on the forefront of technology systems and constantly improve performance and runnability?   If these things resonate with you please read on because we are looking for an IT Developer lead with skills and expertise with EAI technologies like IBM WTX and Tibco.  We provide an internal platform service that manages millions of transactions a day.  The seasoned professional will be expected to work with our application teams to provide advice and guidance on how to on board, manage and troubleshoot issues.  This professional will be expected to work on immediate issues and proactive plans that he or she will suggest to improve the service.

The Lead Developer has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Developer must have the ability to view packages and products to determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
  • Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Provide status reports to Manager and review boards on complex development projects.
  • Guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.
  • Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

  • Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
  • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must pass the Drug Test. Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED. YEARS OF

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

• 5-8 Years of hands on experience working experience with managing EAI systems like IBM WTX (formerly known as ‘Mercator’) with integration experience with SAP using the SAP-XI components.
• Experience with SAP IDOCs, RFCs (BAPIs) and a general understanding or hands-on familiarity with the ABAP/4 programming language and the BASIS framework
• Understanding of the Supply Chain Modules within SAP (e.g. MM/SD)
• Hands on experience and knowledge of standard internet protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH and NFS.  Understanding of the HTTP protocol and Service Orientated Architecture.  Load balancer technologies.
• Administrative experience with UNIX, Linux and/or Windows Operating Systems and with scripting technologies
• Developing source-to-target mapping and business rules (e.g. transformation logic) through the development of the logical data integration models needed to fulfill the data integration requirements.
• Performing data profiling of existing applications
• Developing Basic Teradata Query (BTEQ) application from the Atomic and Semantic Layers
• Converting data integration models and other design specifications to Informatica source code
• Developing and maintaining the code components
• EDI Messages, XML, ALE, SAP IDOC and RFCs, X12 and EDIFACT, Logistics and Supply Chain Domain strong is advantageous
• Performance management for applications with high transaction volumes, distributed applications supporting operational monitoring, load balancing, real time debugging, multi-threading, async communications, etc.
• Excellent problem solving skills and technical acumen in design and operations of high scale internet services.
• A bias for rapid development, platform reusability, maintainability, and supportability.
• Solid experience with the full development lifecycle from concept through delivery and on call 24x7 operations support.
• Leadership, self-starter and able to deal in ambiguous situations.  Solid oral/written communication skills with proven ability to work closely with both business and technology stakeholders to make trade-offs between costs, schedule for IT operations.
• Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work amidst a fast paced environment with the ability to work in and with a remote team environment (Austin, TX or Atlanta, GA)
• Experience in the Retail Industry a plus
• Maintains documentation of current architecture and any enhancements and upgrades
• Assists with selection and recommendation of proper monitoring solutions for the environment
• Java server development environment
• A BS degree in a Computer Science or related engineering discipline
