Home Depot's Supply Chain portfolio is complex and huge. As you can imagine demand for efficient and cost effective solutions is ever growing, i.e., deliver the right merchandise at right time with the least cost at the right store. 


We are at the early stages of developing a new cloud based ecommerce platform using Cassandra and Java based Rest services to better serve our customers with innovative ways to shop with first of its kind capabilities. If you are an experienced software developer who is passionate about driving overall architecture, writing code and loves to build distributed and highly transactional, scalable, high throughput, fault tolerant and always available system…then lets talk!

Our goal is to not only create the best ecommerce platform using cloud, Cassandra, and Java technologies but also to create IaaS & PaaS that will allow us to deploy our code using containers to deploy SaaS for our consumers with click of a few buttons.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 


As Software Development Manager you will leading our team focused on a major replatforming of homedepot.com and will:

  • Develop a scalable, lean, and best in class engineering team consisting of world class talent that is agile, innovative, with a high sense of mission to deliver high quality software in a sustainable way
  • Implement and continuously improve Agile / XP practices
  • Implement and ensure that best coding and quality practices are followed by the team
  • Drive project delivery from inception to go live and post go live.
  • Drive architectural conversations, design, continuous integration and deployment pipeline to ensure code is always deployable
  • Partner with Infrastructure & cloud teams to utilize IaaS & PaaS to continuously deliver software to production
  • Create scalable software where testing is 100% automated and performance always beat SLAs
  • Ensure team is estimating, planning, controlling, and executing projects properly within agreed upon timelines and within budget
  • Manage multiple large projects simultaneously with the ability to appropriately adjust and prioritize as needed
  • Guide, coach, motivate and continuously provide feedback to your team
  • Build relations among your peers and manage up as well as down


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 –

  • 10 plus years hands on experience with developing highly scalable, secure, and high performance transactional applications
  • Deep technical expertise with Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, and micro-services architecture (Rest)
  • Strong experience with software development via Agile SCRUM and XP methodologies
  • Proven experience with continuous integration and test driven development
  • Experience with cloud and open source database technologies (e.g., Cassandra)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in prior management roles - 3+ years managing teams of 10-20+
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience with tools like Eclipse, Atlassian tools (Jira, Crucible, Confluence), Jenkins, etc.

EDUCATION REQUIRED - 

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

TRAVEL

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older. 
  • Must pass the Drug Test. 
  • Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - 

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
