About this job
Staff pharmacists fill orders for medications, review medication orders, monitor patient medications therapies, and provide drug information. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. In the absence of the pharmacy manager, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager.
Education: Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is preferred. This is a prerequisite to licensure from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience: Health-system experience preferred but not required.
Desirable characteristics include a proficiency in written and verbal communications, mathematical calculations, computer literate, possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others; and an ability to perform within time frame without loss of accuracy. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be able to function effectively under stress.
Licenses/Certificates:
Registration- Texas State Board of Pharmacy or eligible.
Certification- Sterile Preparation within 6 months of employment.
