POSITION PURPOSE
-

Home Depot is seeking world-class talent looking to build a career with the world’s largest home improvement retailer, operating more than 2,200 store locations in the U.S, Canada and Mexico. Specifically, your role in Home Depot will place you at the center of developing and maintaining the next generation of systems that Merchants use to provide products for our Stores and customers. You will be exposed to the latest technologies and implement these on a large, enterprise scale. You will work with IT teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as deliver leading-edge capabilities that also support Home Depot’s retail business. You will apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with other core team members to resolve system issues, maintain complex business logic and identify and implement innovative solutions.

A developer with the ability to work independently to identify and solve problems with existing solutions, and the ability to adopt and implement new technologies into new solutions. Some of the existing technologies are: Apache Storm, Kafka, ActiveMQ, Camel, Eclipse, WebsphereMQ and Bizlink. A developer is also expected to mentor peers and other developers to leverage best practices for platforms built on these technologies. Additional responsibilities include internal blogging, facilitating technology discussions or presenting technology topics in monthly forums.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Take business requirements and develop the total technical design for assigned mid-sized projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.
  • Follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.
  • Conduct appropriate test reviews on assigned projects as necessary. Present findings and offer solutions to management.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

  • Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
  • No direct responsibility for supervising others.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must pass the Drug Test.
  • Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 2

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
• 5-7 years work experience in developing applications using java and open source software (Java, J2EE, JQuery, JSON, RESTful web services, jenkins, Eclipse, ANT and Junit)
• Strong Development Experience with Apache Storm, Kafka, ActiveMQ, Camel
• Previous work experience in developing middleware platforms and services
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.
• Strong decision making abilities.
• Ability to lead and mentor others.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -

  • Ability to communicate issues and recommended solutions in a timely manner.
  • Solid experience in documenting requirements.
  • Knowledge of multiple programming languages, databases, life cycle methodologies.
