We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Medical receptionist.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Requirements

Must be flexible to work in the Kingston, New Paltz and/or Ellenville office. Performs reception work, including checking-in and checking-out clients for appointments  Performs a variety of clerical support work based on unit needs including logging records, copying, faxing, maintaining office supplies, processing bulk mailings and similar activities  Processes patient admission, correspondence, referral, and discharge documents, as well as information from other providers and services  Answers phones providing routine information concerning unit procedures and services, refers callers to appropriate staff and/or takes detailed messages  Performs skilled keyboarding to produce correspondence, reports, tables and charts, case histories and to maintain large data bases, as necessary  Gathers, extracts and copies information for use by technical and professional staff  Opens new clients to program by entering information into system, sending out necessary forms and documents and creating files and labels  Opens, time stamps, sorts and distributes mail  Takes longhand minutes, prepares summary notes and submits to chairperson or administrator for approval before distribution  Makes reminder phone calls for next day appointments  Creates and mails missed appointment letters  Provides coverage at other clinics within the agency as requested  Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained  Compiles and maintains patients' medical records to provide data for research or cost control and quality improvement efforts  Enters data, such as demographic characteristics, diagnostic procedures/screenings, and other information relevant to treatment into electronic medical record system REQUIRED SKILLS:  Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work cooperatively, good time management and multi-task abilities.  Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and required formats necessary to recognize and correct such errors in correspondence, records and reports  Knowledge of software packages for word processing to produce a variety of information and for database management to track information  Knowledge of office practices necessary for interacting with staff and the public, processing work flow, and filing and retrieving information  Knowledge of arithmetic to verify calculations and report on work activities  Skill in operating office automation equipment sufficient to produce work accurately and efficiently  Ability to take minutes and prepare summary notes  Ability to learn and work within agency procedures and guidelines  Ability to provide basic information and direction to clients, public and others  Willingness to travel between Ulster County Clinics, if necessary  Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and supportive working relationships with all members of the clinical and clerical staff MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of full time clerical work experience, preferably medical office experience. HOURS: working 35 hours/week Non-exempt position. Schedule will vary based on office staffing needs. Clinic hours are: Kingston Office: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 9 am - 5 pm Thursday: 10 am - 6 pm New Paltz Office: Tuesday and Thursday: 10 am to 6 pm Ellenville Office: Wednesday: 10 am to 6 pm
