Title: Dispatch –Graveyard/PM
Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for providing graveyard coverage for the dispatch office assisting drivers and customers & performing general office duties. Also to provide yard and equipment control and driver check-in.
Expectations - Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet all drivers and sub-haulers (all customers) in a professional and courteous manner.
- Update customer computer screens for driver activity, customer changes, etc.
- Answer incoming calls in a courteous and timely manner
- Assist drivers with verbal instructions, communicate via Nextel Radio
- Supply necessary resources to ensure all loads are adequately covered
- Assist customers via phone, radio, etc. as required
- Track and log all equipment entering and leaving yard; updating status and enter chassis numbers and movement into TMW and any other programs as needed
- Perform computer tasks using Microsoft Word, Excel & proprietary software-TruckPro and Truckmate/TMW.
- Assist drivers as needed with freight bill and other document scanning for payroll and billing processing; assist clerk as needed to sort, compile, copy freight bills as received.
- Collect logs & input into Rapid Log, prepare reports; update in TMW as required.
- Provide yard & equipment control
- Monitor timely driver check in
- Identify DVIR’s needing maintenance attention & forward to shop in timely manner
- Report any unsafe acts or conditions within company policy
- Adhere to company policies, procedures and safety regulations. Use all safety equipment necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Specifications
Education:
- High School diploma, GED or trade school equivalent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand materials commonly used in job function
Technical Training:
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all co-workers, customers and the general public
- Excellent phone and customer service skills
- Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment
- Demonstrated computer skills proficiency, including ability to utilize company authorized software
- Be project oriented and able to multi-task efficiently
- Good sense of geographic areas helpful
- Demonstrated ability to operate Nextel radio or other company approved communication systems, including electronic systems such as Qualcom.
Experience:
- Experience in transportation industry or related field, dispatching experience, preferred.
- Minimum or two years successful general clerical experience with high people interaction
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Work Environment:
· Typical office environment. Regular exposure to shop, yard and outside environment.
· Fast paced office environment with high volume of phone calls and many competing activities/conversations in close proximity.
· Valid California Driver License with an acceptable record & DMV printout. .
· Occasional travel required.

· Required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must use hands for repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
· Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must have visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen, documentation, and policies & procedures.
· Must be able to occasionally bend, squat and climb; including ability to ascend and descent ladders &/or stairs. IND1
