Laboratory Specialist

This lab receives all of there samples from VA. They receive DNA only which has already been extracted in VA. They then run a serious of assays based on the demand. Predominantly they will be testing for how the individuals DNA reacts to various medicines to confirm the correct medication for their aliment, and they there will be no adverse reactions.

For the most time they will be performing very basic assays. This positions will require proficiency with PCR's (polymerase chain reaction) and pi-petting. They will set up and run various PCR's and there will be a lot of down time once they get all test running for the day.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Perform clinical sample testing using PCR-based methods, bead-based arrays, and pharmacological testing.
Assist in daily laboratory operations and diagnostic testing when needed.
Understand and follow CAP/CLIA quality assurance and quality control guidelines.
