Overview:

Job Summary:

As part of the Mercy Virtual senior leadership team, the CAO is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the division's administration, including fiscal planning and analysis, cross functional coordination, development and adherence to strategic/business plans, co-worker engagement/satisfaction/relations, project management office, co-leadership of the quality program including system, process and procedure development, co-leadership of solution/technology portfolio development/Innovation, and integration of Mercy mission/vision/values. The CAO will report directly to and support objectives of the President of Mercy Virtual.

Scope:

The CAO is a member of the senior leadership team of Mercy Virtual, which is responsible for an annual operating budget of $44M, a capital budget of $55M, and support of 300+ co-workers within the Virtual Care Center. The CAO will function as the senior leadership team point person for coordination of the services and communication across the team.

As required, the CAO meets with executives within HR, legal, quality and safety, contracting, MTS, ROI and other departments/operating units to optimize and coordinate Mercy Virtual performance within and external to the ministry.

The CAO must work well within a matrix management structure, significantly influencing the direction, and impacting performance to plan, without specific control in any given area. The CAO will have frequent interaction, and must maintain high performance relationships across Mercy executive and shared services, as well as our regional communities.

The CAO must have highly developed analytical skills in order to quickly access large amounts of information and communicate with clear and sound decision making. Must have technical and professional knowledge in financial management, human resources, information technology and clinical operations.

Must have knowledge of organizational and program management theories, principles and techniques, and the ability to manage change in a diverse and complex organization while displaying effective team leadership skills as well as knowledge of dynamics and characteristics of "high performing" teams.

Responsibilities:

1)Key resource and serving leader for Mercy Virtual senior management team, facilitating shared team focus and results orientation.

2) Provides clinical portfolio program development and management in partnership with clinical leadership to assure timely completion of portfolio solutions.

3) Coordinates and supports strategic and business planning, including annual and 90 day dynamic plans and related finance/budget support.

4) Interacts directly with HR across all major co-worker areas, including managing/prioritizing hiring, on-boarding and team development across departments.

5) Interacts directly with and coordinates internal and external legal resources to support Mercy Virtual growth and performance. Reviews contracts and oversee vendor relations.

6) Provides Quality, Safety and Regulatory administrative leadership and support in combination with assigned medical/clinical leadership, including external accreditation.

7) Functions as a key liaison with MTS, ROI, and ministry shared services to optimize Mercy Virtual value to internal and external partners.

8) Coordinates monthly and quarterly leadership update meetings.

9) Directly oversee the enterprise project management function and maintain line of sight on cross-functional projects and initiatives, be able to anticipate and solve problems, and support efficient and effective teamwork

10) Define, document, implement and track departmental operating procedures and metrics.

11) Provide other duties as assigned, including key need support across open leadership positions.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or healthcare related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

Five years of progressive, senior level executive experience in a complex organization, preferably healthcare. A history of seeking and implementing collaborative relationships with internal constituencies in order to accomplish a common goal.
