Essential Functions & Objectives: 
  
To provide a safe learning environment for children and community, nurture a positive work environment. Interpret the philosophy of Denver Public Schools to faculty, staff, parents, visitors and community. 
  
- Interprets the philosophy of Denver Public Schools to staff, parents, and community 
- Ensures that Colorado Department of Human Services Rules and Regulations are followed 
- Maintain open communication with parents, students and staff. 
- Assist with communication between parents and teachers. 
- Implement a high quality programing for students 
- Create logs and maintain appropriate reports, supervise play areas and other duties assigned 
- Ensure collaborative planning and program curriculum is implemented  
- Deliver lesson plans in an independent capacity to groups of children. 
  
 Licensure & Certification: 
  
- Verifiable education and training in working with school age children and either Group Leader Qualified as written in the Early Childhood Teacher qualifications, working towards this qualification or have agreed to enroll in the classes listed below within 6 months of employment.  
- Must currently hold certification  or be able to obtain CPR, First Aide, Universal Precautions and Medication Administration certification 
  
Education & Experience: 
  
- High school diploma

Must meet following requirements: 
•     - Persons having completed one of the early childhood education courses referenced in CCR 7.702.54(A)(1)(j), with a course grade of “C” or better, as well as having accumulated twelve (12) months  (1,820 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than six (6) years of age who are not related to the individual. Satisfactory experiences includes being a licensee of a family child care home; a teacher’s aide or teacher in a child care center, preschool, or elementary school. 
•     - Assistant Early Childhood Teachers shall be enrolled in and attending the second (2nd) early childhood education class that will be used as the basis for their qualification for the position of Early Childhood Teacher; or 
•     - Persons having completed two early childhood education courses as referenced in CCR 7.702.54(A)(1)(j), with a course grade of “C” or better with no experience. 

 

Knowledge & Other Qualifications: 
  
- Must pass CBI (Colorado) and FBI (Federal) background checks
- Must be at least 18 years of age and demonstrate an ability to work with children 
- Must have 3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school age children 
- Ability to relate positively to children and adults. 
- Experience building relationships and partnerships with diverse people and organizations; strong collaboration skills 
- Flexible, self-motivated individual 
- Evidence of verbal and written communication skills 
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills 
- Experience in program development, implementation and evaluation
