A Senior Network Engineer on the Data Center Network Engineering team is responsible for leading projects that support business and technology initiatives through consultation, technical support, and solution implementation.  Through partnership with IT and business partners, you will gather requirements, design resilient and fiscally sound solutions and implement and test those designs.  You will also perform troubleshooting, isolation and resolution for service impacting events, work to identify root cause and create preventative and proactive measures to deploy in the enterprise.  You desire to share your experiences and mentor and partner with other team members will be critical to your success. 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Maintain and support networking hardware and software mainframe network, including evaluate, develop, and recommend specific network technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements. Develop solutions and implementing changes as necessary. Perform capacity planning and application analysis for network performance and sizing. Assess business and technology initiatives, providing consultation, technical support, and recommendations to optimally utilize the enterprise network infrastructure. Create and maintain support documentation and technical drawings of the enterprise network infrastructure. Provide customer service and training to end-users. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery, creating preventative measures to deploy in the enterprise Research and design reference models to standardize network architecture and manage network life-cycle planning.

NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Bachelor degree in related field. MS a plus. 5-7 years experience in IT field/environment is preferred. Design support for RF data networks. Technical skills may include experience with one or more of the following: UNIX, Informix, COBOL, JAVA, Catalyst WMS and YMS, Korn Shell Scripting, Novell, Netware, Onnet, Sequelink, TSO/ISPF/MVS, DB2/SQL, JCL, CSP, CICS TCP/IP, Visual Basic, Networking, and LAN administration. Experience in call center technology , optimizing networks PBX systems, ACD systems, Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 switching and/or Routing Protocols.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
-Proficiency in designing, testing, implementing and supporting enterprise network infrastructures
-Technical skills may also include experience with one or more of the following: VMWare, Linux, Opnet, and network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS,SFTP, TACACS, RADIUS).
-A thorough understanding of the OSI model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP and IP subnetting is required
-Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (technical and non-technical)
-Must work well independently as well as with co-workers and be more than willing to provide suggestions / recommendations as needed.
