Job Summary
Inform and assist customers with decisions on a variety of product and design selections. Assess customer needs and preferences to identify products that will meet customer expectations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Assess customer needs, preferences, and expectations regarding specific products.
- Advise customer on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout, and color coordination.
- Ensure that customer is informed of options available for product upgrades.
Provide complete product information detailing performance, durability, and maintenance of different types and grades of products.
- Estimate material requirements and costs.
- Accurately record product selections using established department procedures and practices.
- Resolve customer problems and issues.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
- May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.
Work Environment
- Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must pass the Drug Test
- Must pass the Background Check
- Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years experience in kitchen bath sales/design and product knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills and positive, outgoing personality. Professional appearance and dress. High level of integrity and honesty.
- Ability to close a sale based on value and design expertise.
- Basic sketching and layout experience.
- Strong computer and systems skills required.
