Sr Research Assoc- $25-35hr

A proteomics assay development position is available in Genentech's Pharmacodynamic biomarker group (PDB ITGR) within the Development Sciences organization. Thesuccessful candidate will play a key role in development and application of quantitative massspectrometry based protein biomarker assays to support Genentech's researchand early development immunology, infectious disease and metabolic disease programs.

Required Qualificaitions:

• 3+ years of experience Biotech experience
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Bioinformatics
• The ideal candidate will have significant experience with proteomic sample preparation techniques for biological fluids (e.g. plasma, serum, CSF, urine) and quantitative MS techniques (e.g. SRM/MRM, AQUA).
• Must have handson experience with HPLC and mass spectrometry (ideally ABSciex and Thermo instruments)
• Be knowledgeable with instrumentation and have strong troubleshooting capabilities
• Experience with targetedproteomic approaches such as developing multiplexed MRM assays is a plus as well as experience with standard database search engines such as mascot or sequest, and supportive softwares such as Analyst (ABSciex) and Skyline. Some proficiency with bioinformatics and biostatistics (including R) also desired
• Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, be able to work in a team environment
• Willing and eager to learn new technologies.

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Bioinformatics
