Description

New Jersey MENTOR is seeking Direct Support Professionals/Caregivers to provide assistance to at-risk youth in accordance with the Service Plan for the purpose of direct care services, behavioral redirection, training, and support to address the functional/daily or community living skills needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues and/or emotional or behavioral challenges.


DSP's provide assistance with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning; medication administration;and personal care. DSPs may also facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings in the community or providing transportation to work or other activities. In addition, DSPs support therapeutic and behavioral plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required with at least 3-5 years’ of verifiable experience working at-risk youth; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services, Criminal Justice or Psychology is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Must have verifiable experience providing service to teens ages 10-18 with emotional, medical, and behavioral challenges
  • CPR/FA is a plus
  • Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
  • Successful clearance of 2-3 professional references

Note: All hires will be required to attend a two week orientation: Monday thru Friday
