Position Summary
Meat & Seafood Customer Service Associate is responsible for providing prompt, friendly, knowledgeable customer service in a fast paced meat and seafood department. Provides excellent customer service by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This role is critical to delivering a “wow” shopping experience for the customer. 

 THE JOB
  • Assist customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner. Offering suggestions and ideas of how to prepare and use the products. Be able to answer questions regarding product as well as an overall familiarity with the store.
  • Performs basic cutting of meat and seafood as well as cleaning of products such as scaling whole fish or removing the skins of filleted fish.
  • Ability to operate and maintain scales, and follow procedures to ensure proper pricing.
  • Maintain attractive, fully stocked displays and cases within the department.
  • Package bulk seafood items for retail sale.
  • Construct trays of meat, fish, and shellfish.
  • Must have the ability to work quickly, efficiently, and safely, including practicing safe food handling practices.
  • Accurately label and sign items by price, description, and country of origin.
  • Maintains the meat and seafood department in all areas including removal of garbage, washing floors, cases, and dishes, and other items as directed.
  • Shovels ice for seafood cases and works in a cold environment, sometimes as cold as 10 degrees below zero.
  • Follow city and county food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures.
  • Follow established use, safety, and maintenance guidelines when using knives, saws, and all other department equipment.
Maintains all coolers, freezers, and storage areas in a neat, clean, and safe condition. THE SKILLS THAT ARE NEEDED
Possesses the ability to identify basic types of finfish and shellfish by species is desirable.
Familiarity with cooking techniques is desirable.
Willingness to work with meat and seafood.

Essential functions:
Stand, walk, squat and bend and ability to lift heavy boxes and milk crates
Repetitive use of hands
Exposure to hot/cold temperatures (freezer/oven/etc.)

THE EXPERIENCES
0-2 year experience of meat & seafood experience preferred
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
