The Material Planner is responsible for order, coordinate delivery, and manager all materials needed to meet the production plan and financial targets.



Individual Contributor Role



- Lead the improvement of the business process of material planning



- Inventory Planning (Safety Stock, Cycle Stock, Pre-build, Transition Management)



- Inventory Management (Cycle Counts, Storage, Material Handling)



- Purchasing/MRP Management



- Quality/Vendor Management



- Process Improvement via analytical skills and problem solving



- System skills SAP (MRP, Materials Management, Master Production Schedule, Data), Microsoft Office (excel, …)



Responsibilities:




  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, purchasing, transition management, supply chain planning, and quality to attain production goals – ex. Correct storage type (drum, tote, tank …).

  • Develop and manage the inventory plans for assigned materials to include safety stock, cycle stock, pre-build requirements, and product transitions/disposals

  • Execute with excellence in the area of stock and demand replenishment providing feedback to the supply chain on risks regarding replenishment levels and demand.

  • Provide input in developing departmental strategies for inventory on existing items, new product introduction and phase outs.

  • Develop and manage the inventory cycle count plans and compliance

  • Communicate with inventory control to ensure accurate material inventory balances.

  • Determine, research and correct material inventory discrepancy causes.

  • Meet schedules by ensuring materials are available to schedule

  • Resolve material capacity issues by working with scheduling to ensure effective production and customer service

  • Use and maintain MRP data as the primary planning system tool.

  • Create purchase orders and monitor progress of orders to ensure on time delivery to support manufacturing production schedule

  • Analyze SAP generated forecasts on reasonableness and accuracy

  • Review and interpret bills of material construction.

  • Communicate with bill of material group to make changes to packaging sub-assemblies at the point of transition and for packaging substitutions

  • Review historical data including sales trends, research demand drivers, material on time delivery, commodity spends within dedicated production cell. Coordinate research data to identify significant variances. Share, communicate and report on variances to both internal and external supply chain.

  • Interact with supply chain planning to understand demand forecast drivers

  • Interface with vendors and forecast material integrity.

  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure material quality standards are met. Notify suppliers of material holds and follow holds through disposition

  • Manage the new material introduction, engineering changes and customer conversions.

  • Maintain all new item, change, and discontinued items.

  • Update production tracking and reporting reports.

  • Plan material to attain company metrics like turns and customer fill rate.



Requirements:




  • Bachelor' degree in manufacturing, production management, materials management or business management, or equivalent experience.

  • Min of 2 years in a planning/procurement/inventory control role within a manufacturing facility

  • MRP experience is essential

  • SAP experience would be advantageous

  • Competent IT Skills in Microsoft Office

  • Experience of statistical analysis and problem solving

  • Understanding of financial and operational impacts of material planning

  • Must be able to effectively communicate by using various tools and techniques: writing, reading, typing, presenting, and creating spreadsheets, and documents.

  • Must have strong computer literacy skills/ functional ability for process management, business performance reporting and communication (Microsoft Office, MRP, etc).

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Must be able to analyze large quantities of data to solve problems
