Job Summary and Primary Function:

As part of the Quality Assurance Organization, the Function of QC Mechanical Inspector has basic responsible for implementing and maintaining quality standards, procedures and the protocol for the Quality Control functions which include; Receiving Inspection, In-Process Inspection and Final Inspection. Also ensures that product is inspected, and tested per company quality standards and the requirements as specified on Purchase Orders for incoming product through Vendors and In-Process Work Orders for product being manufactured within company. The QC Mechanical Inspector has the knowledge of all activities of the Receiving and In-Process Inspection process and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

Interprets blueprints, work orders, and other documentation to determine acceptance or rejection standards.

Performs visual and dimensional inspection of first articles, assemblies, final product, and tooling, utilizing micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.

Documents inspection results, maintains records, and prepares reports.

Routes inspected parts to appropriate destination.

Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Works under acceptable conditions with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat or chemicals.

The individual must also have skills, experience and knowledge in the following areas:

Accountability

Work performed is technically sound and accepted.

Responsible for executing tasks in conformance with established policies, practices, and procedures.

Technical Breadth

Understanding of Quality Control and Inspection concepts and methodologies. Good knowledge of understanding and reading Drawings.

Experience with Zeiss CMM and / or Mitutoyo CMM, CMM Manager Software.

Basic Computer Skills

Problem Solving

Applies knowledge within the framework of defined policies and principles, to identify Anomalies and Defects found through the techniques of Inspection.

Communication

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Displays consistently good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with others in achieving project goals.

Education/Experience/Training:

Requires a high school diploma and/or a minimum of five to eight years of consistent mechanical inspection experience. Also requires advanced math aptitude including knowledge of trigonometry, knowledge of highly complex mil-specs, ability to read blueprints, and use all types of measuring instruments.

Additional Requirements:

Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion.

Able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat.

Able to occasionally push, and reach.

Able to move items up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 30 feet.

Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands.

Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.

Based upon your job duties, and need to visit different areas within the company, you may be exposed to; fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.

Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
