POSITION SUMMARY:

The Seasonal RN has mastered basic technical and organizational nursing skills. Has skills in evaluating patient responses and uses past experiences and evidence-based practices in providing care and decision- making. There is a focus on outcomes, and care is delivered using a systematic approach. The Seasonal RN is able to make independent decisions guided by experience, as well as policies and standards. Consults with other members of the healthcare team when necessary. Maintain acceptable standards of patient care within the clinical area. The seasonal RN is assigned to a specific patient care unit. The seasonal RN tour of duty is no longer than 9 months and based on the organizations staffing needs.

POSITION DUTIES:

Nursing Process

1.1 Assessment - An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a client, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well.

o Focused assessment based on patient condition, setting and population

1.2 Problem Identification - Problem identification is the nurses clinical judgment about the clients response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.

1.3 Planning and Outcomes Based on the assessment and problem identification, the nurse sets measurable and achievable short- and long-range goals in collaboration with the patient and family. Assessment data, problem identification, and goals are written in the patients care plan so that nurses as well as other health professionals caring for the patient have access to it.

o Establishing daily goals with the patient and family

o Formulating a plan of care

o Transition or Discharge planning

1.4 Implementation Nursing care is implemented according to the care plan, so continuity of care for the patient during hospitalization and in preparation for discharge is assured. Care is documented in the patients record.

o Ensures patient safety

o Medication administration

o Provision of ordered treatments

o Patient/Family education

o Provision of nursing care

o Documentation in healthcare record

1.5 Evaluation Both the patients status and the effectiveness of the nursing care must be continuously evaluated, and the care plan modified as needed.

1.6 Care Coordination Actions initiated by nurses with patients, families, and/or members of their healthcare team to manage and correct the sequence, timing, and/or effectiveness of patient care from admission to discharge.

o PrioritizationPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

Licensure Required: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or valid Compact license if primary residence is not in Arizona.

Experience Required: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year.

Skills Required: Verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge Required: Nurse Practice Act

Technology Required: Basic computer skills

Other Required: Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays, and/or weekends
