DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Sonoma Developmental Center currently has a permanent, full-time vacancy for an Electrician I. Under the direction of the Electrician Supervisor, incumbents install transmission lines for electrical equipment, assemble, install and repair electric lights, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboards and other electrical apparatus, troubleshoot electrical systems, operate electrical power generating plants, operate electrical equipment, advise in the selection and storage of electrical equipment, consult and work with other trades people, make rough sketches and estimate the cost of minor electrical installations. Typical working conditions include working on ladders of various heights and elevated platforms or boom truck bucket, uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment in and around high and low voltage equipment, works on underground electrical distribution systems, high voltage pole lines and street lighting systems, works in mechanical rooms, attics, and crawl spaces under various buildings, manholes and vaults, and other work associated with the maintenance of a large institutional facility electrical system.

Eligibility may consist of one of the following: list eligibility, lateral transfer, or reinstatement to State service.
