About this job
Responsibilities* This is a 32 bed acute adult rehabilitation unit.
The rehabilitation unit includes major populations of spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, neuromuscular injury or disease and patients debilitated from chronic complex medical problems.
Up to two rehabilitation patients may be ventilator dependant.
Most patients are physically disabled and dependent for bed mobility and transfers.
6A offers a comprehensive orientation, career development, and the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population.
This unit utilizes a primary team nursing model of care.

Nursing Specific Info Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C, includes B.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period.
Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort.
Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications* Current Michigan RN License.
* GN applicants will be considered. The selected candidate must have successfully passed the NCLEX and be licensed as a RN in the State of Michigan before effective date of hire.

Desired Qualifications* RN experience in an acute care inpatient rehabilitation unit
Demonstrated skill in customer service
Demonstrated skill in interpersonal communication, both verbal and written
Demonstrated comfort in using e-mail for communication
Ability to utilize computers for word processing, internet research and processing work
Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing, General Medicine, or other
BSN preferred
Work Schedule Hours Per Week: 36 hrs/wk, 12hr shifts
Shift/Hrs: Day/Night shift; every other weekend
Location: University Hospital , 6A Adult Rehabilitation Unit
All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
Union Affiliation This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
