Responsibilities* CVC OR INTERNSHIP

The internship is a six-month operating room orientation program. This educational program provides a valuable and unique career opportunity for graduate nurses/registered nurses. By teaching the RN a wide range of skills and knowledge, the program prepares the intern for their new role as a perioperative nurse. The internship program is conducted in a classroom, laboratory, and patient care settings. Rotation through multiple specialties is required. Upon successful completion of the OR internship, the perioperative nurse is expected to function safely and effectively in a variety of cases.

The internship position is 40 hours per week. There will be Evening shifts included in this position, with call and weekend/holiday obligations.

The Internship will be starting March 28, 2016.

Nursing Specific Info Salary & Nursing Framework Level:

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C (INC B).

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications* This internship program is open to Graduate Nurses.

Current License to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.

Ability to work with a non-responsive patient population.

Demonstrated ability to handle stress, conflict and resolution.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team member.

Call commitment with 30 minute response time.

NOTE: All applicants selected to interview will complete a 4 hour observation in the CVC OR (unpaid). The CVC OR internship requires a two year commitment to working in the CVC OR.

Desired Qualifications* BSN

Operating Room experience.

A satisfactory attendance record proven by employment references.

Work Schedule Hours:40 hours/week

Shift: Evenings with call and weekend/holiday obligations.

Location: Cardiovascular Center - Operating Room

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
