Position Highlights

BASIC FUNCTION:

Position responsible for collaborating with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process to facilitate the delivery of patient care. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

2. Experience: Must have at least 6 months of work experience in chosen specialty within an acute care setting OR at the discretion of nursing leadership has performed satisfactorily as a New Graduate Registered Nurse and has become productive and functions independently.

3. Licenses/Certifications:

o Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing.

o Certified in Basic Life Support

o Additional certifications will be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements.

4. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Delivers appropriate care to patients, at an advanced beginner level, according to the RN skills inventory and the age and needs of the patient/population served.

2. Coordinates the planning for the delivery of nursing care with a multidisciplinary team and administers appropriate clinical decisions in the delivery of patient care.

3. Collaborate and directs the healthcare team in the attainment of positive outcomes based on data, research, evidence, and professional standards of care.

4. Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement and desired client-centered outcomes.

5. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

6. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
