Primary Responsibilities:

The Staff nurse plans, provides, and evaluates nursing care provided to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process. The RN is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the direct patient care activities. As part of the nursing process the RN assesses the patient care needs, develops the initial plan of care and the implements and coordinates the delivery of patient care for the duration of the hospital stay. Provides safety and crisis management for the patient populations, and assures a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN ensures that professional nursing standards are achieved.

Job Requirements:

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.

A minimum of two (2) years prior as a nurse in a mental health care setting, or at least three (3) years of general nursing experience is preferred, and be eligible for on-the-job training or equivalent. Knowledge and experience in crisis stabilization with a psychiatric mental health population is preferred. The staff RN must have ability to interact effectively with persons of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic classes, those in crisis or resistant or negative toward the organization effective oral and written communication skills skills in analyzing and evaluating information ability to concentrate on tasks organizational, time management, problem solving and crisis management skills necessary flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stress necessary. The RN must have a working knowledge of EMTALA guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and the nursing process.
