The Designer, in partnership with the Senior Designer is responsible for managing the design process for all Baby Girls product from the initial concept stage through production for sizes 0-25M.
Responsible for the design process, which includes conceptual direction, market research, design styling & fit as well as fabrication & trim direction. Research and present innovative designs, fabrics, trims and concepts to fill the needs of the line plan and strengthen the brand. Partner with Senior Designer to create seasonal direction in silhouette design to ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as the business strategy. Design key items seasonally to fit into concepts and collections. Sketch and create tech packs for development. Attend fit meetings and communicate detailed comments on fit and construction to the technical team. Responsible for fabric and trim selection and development. Develop a strong cross-functional partnership with Pre-Production, Technical Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and Art Department teams thru communication and problem solving. Work with Tech teams and Sourcing on the execution of design samples. Partner with CAD department to develop patterns, stripes and sweater artwork. Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines of seasonal needs.
Experience and Skills
Strong computer skills, including, Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM + Mac Platforms Strong organization, time management, communication and presentation skills with the ability to build productive relationships and focus on solutions Strong sense of style and color Strong design skills, with a thorough knowledge of styling, fabrics, fit and trim Degree in Fashion Design 5 + years experience Prior experience in childrens wear with a focus on baby, preferred Vertical retail experience, preferred Carters is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
