POSITION SUMMARY

Ensure the store's meat department provides positive earnings and the department operates at standards set by the company.  Assist the store manager by training employees, and in directing effective safety, security and sanitation programs.  Leads self or store meat department team in a manner that maximizes sales and profits.  Assist the store manager in compliance of all company policies and procedures.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Share the responsibility for generating sales, profits, scheduling and expense management of the store with the store manager.  Responsible for leading the meat department in maintaining control of shrink, Sales Per Employee Hour (SPEH), product ordering, and merchandising to meet store and company goals.
  • Assist the store manager in executing all work priorities and directing the assignment of individual tasks within the store.  Responsibilities may include functions at the front end, on the sales floor, and overall cleaning and maintenance.
  • Assist the store manager in training and execution of good customer service in the store.
  • Share with the store manager a properly maintained store in compliance with company standards.  Share with the store manager the responsibilities for a clean, neat, well-stocked and friendly store.  Assist the store manager with the maintenance of all signs and tags.
  • Share with the store manager the responsibility for the implementation and compliance of all company policies and all accounting procedures in compliance with company policies and standards.  Share with the store manager the responsibility for hiring, training, and developing store personnel.

REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  EDUCATION/TRAINING

REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Professional training

2.  EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:  Two (2) years of previous experience working in perishables (produce/fresh meat).  Experience using hand tools and power equipment, such as knives, slicers, grinders, cubing machine, and power saw.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS NEEDED

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Frequently lift 45-50 lbs., occasionally required to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Frequently stand for 6-8 hours at a time, occasionally longer.
  • Must be dependable and flexible.
  • Must adhere to uniform dress code.
