Job Description
Repair and Overhaul Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Siemens power turbine and compressor repairs and overhauls are supported with world class technical information and services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development of technical solutions for the repair and overhaul of power turbines and compressors to achieve customer delivery, cost and quality targets.
* Assign work to employees to ensure delivery requirements are achieved, train and develop repair engineers, and participate in performance assessments of employees
* Ensure that technical instructions for all aspects of the repair and overhaul process are established and made available to the operations team.
* Define and implement the controls necessary to ensure that all power turbine and compressor repairs are undertaken to parameters specified by engineering.
* Monitor equipment repairs to identify areas for improvement/rectification to ensure equipment quality standards are maintained.
* Implement and maintain effective communication and support strategies to ensure that customer requirements are met and understood.
* Embed service level targets and implement plans and programs which deliver continuous improvements in customer satisfaction.
* Provide tooling/equipment designs in support of the repair and overhaul process.
* Support repair and overhaul capability acquisition for new and existing processes supplying technical advice on facility design, equipment etc.
* Develop teams and individuals to realize their full potential and ensure the competence of all personnel engaged in overhaul/component repair activities.
* Manage the Repair Executive process, and the relationships with other departments involved in the process to ensure issued repair schemes have the maximum impact on Siemens and customer economics, and avoidance of spares shortages.
* Recommend repair schemes as necessary to cater for component design changes or an extension of the component defect.
* Recommend new equipment design changes for ability to repair.
* Ensure Repair Vendor Agreements are adhered to, in conjunction with the purchasing and commercial departments.
* Carry out Repair Vendor technical audits, where necessary, on component repair.
* Visit Repair Vendors to discuss aspects of component repair.
* Ensure the Repair & Overhaul team operates to the requirements of the Journey to Process Excellence.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering and 8+ years of repair engineering experience or Master's degree in engineering with 7+ years of repair engineering experience
* 3+ years of management experience
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
* Knowledge of repair engineering processes, repair techniques and technology for gas generators, power turbines, and compressors
* Good understanding of gas turbines and their package related equipment
