Job Summary:

Accountable for planning, coordinating,

implementing, and evaluating educational activities designed to meet identified

learning needs, to enhance professional development, and to increase the

clinical and managerial competency of the staff. Assures adequate patient

educational materials are available.

Essential Duties:

1. Ensures orientation to standards of care and standards of

practice is provided for new staff and those staff members changing roles.

2. Monitors and

evaluates educational outcomes.

3. Reviews policies

and procedures regarding educational activities to assure consistency with

established standards.

4. Assists with the

development of standards of practice and standards of care.

5. Integrates

research findings into education activities, policies, and procedures.

6. Promotes the

shared leadership philosophy through the active participation in councils.

7. Collaborates with

others of education to develop, implement, and evaluate educational activities

for professional nurses.

8. Collaborates with

faculty and deans from schools of nursing to provide insight into role

expectations of the graduate nurse and suggested additions to clinical

objectives or curriculum.

9. Develops,

integrates, and Implements goals of the hospital and the Division of nursing

into services provided by the department.

10. Participates in

nursing and hospital committees as assigned.

11. Participates in professional and community

activities related to health care

12. Assures patient education materials available

to provide information to patients and families regarding diseases, tests, and

procedures, and/or self care meets the educational needs of the patient.

13. Manages the

budget through analysis of reports and written documentation

14. Monitor clinical

ladder recipients

15. Provides quality

customer service through educational offerings, collaboration, and consultation

using the framework of instructional design, the principles of adult learning,

and standards established by regulatory agencies and professional

organizations.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred Registered Nurse (RN) Ten (10) years leadership experience professional nurses.
