About this job

Job Description: Initial role will be to be mentored by current tenured staff. Will shadow and work on small parts of the project.

Will be trained to engineer subdivision projects - everything from drainage, grading, mapping, some hydrology, some water resources.


Below is what an experienced engineer will be able to do:

Layout of the storm drain within the streets/project
Profiling the storm drain on improvement sheets, setting the grade of the pipes and checking for conflicts

Behind that work there is some level of engineering for proper design and successful functioning of the system, including two components;

Preparation of hydrology studies (rational method) to determine peak flows expected in storm drain systems
Hydraulic calculations to verify storm drain design, set pipe minimums slopes and pipe sizes and determining HGLs
Additional hydraulic calculations that we'd like, but could train the candidate to do as long as they have the 2 items above include;
Sizing of storm drain inlets
Sizing of lined ditches and/or drainage channels
Sizing of rip rap energy dissipaters


Autocad, Civil Engineer, Land Development, designer
"Need tentative map-concept design experience where they can then run with that.
Will be working on preparation of grading plans & road design.
Subdivision design, including rough grading, public and private improvements, utilities.
Large (50+) residential projects, both single family and multi-family.

Work Environment: 12 - comprised of drafters, engineers, PM's, & Principal.
Company is a very dynamic company. Work hard, play hard mindset. Most people have outside hobbies and interests to keep them balanced. Overtime is typically expected - usually a 45 hour work week. Regular start time at 8:00am - can work the weekends if they want.

Qualifications: Entry level engineer
Bachelors degree in civil
0-3 years experience
If have experience, land development, mass subdivision experience a plus.

Performance Expectations: Need to work in a TEAM first mentality - does not stand for any animosity between engineers vs drafting team. Work towards one common goal of completing a project.

Being able to navigate through AutoCad - score of 85% on testing.

Actual engineering/drafting experience not necessary but have aptitude to learn and ask questions when not understanding it.

Additional Compensation: Work week is based on a 45 hour work week - always 5+ hours of OT.
